Thomas Botticelli

Trapeze dance

France

Although I am French, I am Thomas Botticelli and I am a true Swiss army knife.

My sensory sensitivity has never left me. It is what feeds my desire to create, and it also drives my exploration of multiple artistic practices. As a child, I grew up with a strong attention to detail. The stage became, for me, a place where artistic practices converge—photography, sewing, and body work—but above all, it is a space of sensory transmission.

It was at L’Élastique Citrique in French-speaking Switzerland that I began developing my colorful imagination, before continuing my path at the Lausanne Circus School, then at ACaPA, and finally arriving at CNAC in 2020. Beyond my practice of dance trapeze and its détournement, I am deeply attached to circus values such as collective work and direct access to the sensory experience. For me, circus represents a utopian world: an inclusive space where differences are celebrated, in contrast to a society that values competition.

Passionate about creating performances, I now wish to move toward directing. I aim to create sensory performances that invite audiences to elevate differences and to bring a different perspective on life.
