Baccalaureate with a specialisation in Circus Arts

The Lycée Pierre Bayen in Châlons-en-Champagne (51) offers a Baccalaureate course specialising in Circus Arts.
This course is unique in the Grand Est region.

The programme combines arts education, physical training and general secondary school education. It is structured as follows: Year 10 with the Circus Arts option, followed by Years 11 and 12 specialising in Circus Arts. In particular, it prepares students for the entrance exams to higher education institutions specialising in circus arts. It also enables students to pursue any course of study associated with a general Baccalaureate.

The CNAC supports the circus specialism as part of a continuous pathway (amateur practice at A-level, preparatory school and then higher education) by providing facilities on its premises and offering strong educational and technical support.
To this end, the CNAC’s teams:
- organise specialised courses in circus arts with its teachers and guest tutors,
- provide access to its technical facilities and resource centre,
- invite secondary school pupils to meet with the artists, attend workshops, watch rehearsals and see its performances.

After the Baccalaureate

The Baccalaureate with the ‘Circus Arts’ specialism enables pupils to:
- sit entrance exams for all preparatory schools for higher education institutions,
- progress to general or arts-based courses.
