Rooted in its territory, open to the world
A committed local cultural actor
A major cultural institution in Châlons-en-Champagne, the Centre National des Arts du Cirque is fully embedded in the dynamics of its territory. It develops mediation initiatives, builds collaborations with cultural and educational stakeholders, and widely opens its spaces to audiences, contributing to making circus a shared art form. CNAC also actively participates in the city’s ambition to promote circus arts, helping to integrate circus into the everyday life of local residents.
Developing networks and cooperation
This local anchoring is complemented by a strong national and international outreach. CNAC maintains long-term cooperation with numerous schools and institutions in France and abroad, fostering the circulation of artists, works, knowledge, and practices. It is also a member of key professional networks, in France and internationally, including the French Federation of Circus Schools (FFEC), the ANESCAS association (National Association of Higher Education Institutions for Performing Arts), and at European level, the FEDEC (European Federation of Professional Circus Schools), reinforcing its position within a dynamic educational and artistic ecosystem.
Creating, sharing, and promoting circus arts
CNAC actively contributes to the vitality of contemporary circus through:
- Student performances
- Partnerships with Pôles Nationaux du Cirque
- Engagement in professional networks
- Development of collaborations with international schools
- Student mobility in France and abroad
Through these actions, it helps structure the sector and strengthen the recognition of circus arts both nationally and internationally.
