What is ‘Jeune Cirque National’?
It is a scheme designed to support professional integration, aimed at European companies that hire recent graduates from the last four cohorts of the following three higher education institutions: the CNAC in Châlons-en-Champagne, the Académie Fratellini in Saint-Denis and the Ésacto’Lido in Toulouse.
These companies are eligible for financial support of up to 2,100 euros per project and per artist.
(an additional grant is available for companies based in the Grand Est region that employ a recent graduate from the CNAC)
This scheme, led by the CNAC, is funded by the Ministry of Culture – DGDCER and by the Grand Est Region (for CNAC graduates).
The spring 2026 session has ended.
This programme has two main objectives:
- To support young artists by enabling them to work with a writer to improve their skills as performers, whether in original productions or when taking on roles within professional companies.
- To encourage companies to hire recent graduates in order to facilitate their integration and recognition within the professional sector.
Please note: the Jeune Cirque National scheme applies solely to the hiring of recent graduates as performers. It is not intended for graduates working on their own projects.
Funding may be applied for:
◦ For a new production: it is primarily awarded on the basis of the production period and covers a period of one year before and up to one year after the show’s premiere.
◦ For a revival: it takes the revival period as its primary basis and covers a period of one year before and up to one year after the first performance of the revival.
The application for eligibility must be submitted by the company that is employing a recent graduate as a performer in an artistic project.
One application must be submitted for each performer employed. The company may submit several applications for the same project.
To submit an application, the following conditions must be met:
√ The applicant organisation must be registered in the European Union,
√ The artists must be employed within four years of obtaining their national higher diploma in circus arts from one of the three French higher education institutions: the CNAC, the Académie Fratellini and the Ésacto’Lido (each graduate is eligible for a maximum of two grants),
√ The project’s artistic team must include a number of experienced artists at least equal to the number of young graduates involved,
√ The level of remuneration offered to the young graduates must comply with the current trade union minimum rates.
√ The project must involve identified co-productions that guarantee the young graduate’s professional visibility. It must also include a tour comprising at least 15 dates or taking place in at least 5 different venues.
The grant is capped at €2,100* for 20 days’ employment of the recent graduate, i.e. €105 per day worked. If the daily pay is less than €105, the 20-day period may be extended. This period may be continuous or non-consecutive.
*A bonus is granted to employers based in the Grand Est region who take on a recent graduate from the CNAC.
The CNAC launches two calls for applications and organises two selection panels each year, in spring and autumn.
