Rémi was born on May 19, 1996, in Auch, France.

He is the fifth of six children (Emma, Galatée, Jacob, Claire, and Kénoa). He grew up in Enjouaniquet, a rural spot in the Gers region, spending his childhood outdoors—running across rooftops and jumping into mud. He discovered circus very early in life, regularly attending the annual Festival Circa, just 20 km from his hometown.

His brothers and sisters attended the amateur circus school Pop Circus. He would pick them up after class, admire the performers’ skills, and eventually try acrobatics himself.

His dream was born: to become a circus artist.

At the age of eleven, it was his turn to join Pop Circus, where he met his lifelong friend and partner Baptiste Petit. Together, they discovered Korean cradle and group partner acrobatics. Older circus students spoke to them about the Rosny–Châlons professional pathway.

At 18, fresh out of high school, he joined the École nationale des arts du cirque de Rosny-sous-Bois in partner acrobatics alongside Baptiste. His siblings continued their own circus journeys in parallel: his brother became a stunt performer with the Contrebande collective (27th CNAC promotion Korean cradle group), his sister Galatée formed the trio Satchok after graduating from Tilburg, and Claire specialized in Chinese pole after graduating from the Bordeaux circus school.

At ENACR, Rémi discovered new partners with whom he shared a passion for partner acrobatics, banquine, and Korean cradle. Together, they formed a collective of seven people. He continued his studies at the Centre national des arts du cirque, where the group eventually narrowed to four: the bearded Argentinian Hernan Elencwajg, the virtuoso acrobat Tanguy Pelayo, and his Gers-based partner Baptiste Petit.

They continued refining their work in acrobatics, banquine, and Korean cradle. From their shared desires emerged the collective “La Bête à Quatre.”

Cie La Bête à Quatre – Collectif Bascule

The members of the future collective entered the École nationale des arts du cirque (ENACR) in Rosny-sous-Bois in 2014. Driven by a shared desire to fly, seven of them began working on Korean cradle and partner acrobatics. They continued as a group of four at the CNAC in Châlons-en-Champagne, enriching their shared universe and technical vocabulary across disciplines.

Throughout their journey, decisive encounters shaped their work—particularly with Guy Alloucherie (Cie HVDZ) and Sophia Perez (Cheptel Aleikoum)—who encouraged them to explore and create together. Their aim: to question and transform their apparatus to build a unique artistic language.

After a summer of street performances in 2017 and multiple shared experiences, the collective evolved into the company Cie La Bête à Quatre (Grrrr).
