I was born in the Netherlands on the third day of the year 2000. At the age of seven, I started team gymnastics, also known as TeamGym, and that is when I began developing my physical and acrobatic abilities. I enjoyed gymnastics a lot, but at the age of eleven I discovered circus arts. Drawn to its range of possibilities and the sense of freedom it offers (unlike gymnastics) it gradually became a more important part of my life.
At sixteen, I chose to attend the circus high school at Cirkus Cirkör in Stockholm. During those three years, I began specializing in acro-dance. This choice came naturally, as the freedom and simplicity of acro-dance matched me well.
After high school, I first returned to the Netherlands and joined the circus school in Rotterdam (Codarts) before entering the CNAC a year later. There, I began to clarify my own artistic intentions. By watching many circus, dance, and theatre performances, I started questioning what I communicate through my art, my body, and my movement. I realized that what matters most to me is the meaning behind the performer’s actions—the impact those actions have on an audience.
My worldview, both pragmatic and existential yet optimistic, often emerges in my artistic research, as does music. I believe that meaning in life can be found in beauty, which itself is often hidden within nonsense.
