Pablo Peñailillo Soto
Born in Chile in 1993, Pablo Penailillo spent his youth divided between martial arts and studying social anthropology at Alberto Hurtado University in Santiago. He discovered in the circus a space where physical practice and curiosity could intersect. In 2017, he joined the Centre National des Arts du Cirque (CNAC), graduating in 2019 with a specialisation in tightrope walking and a distinction in aerial silks. In 2023, he is pursuing a Certificate in Dramaturgy for the Circus Arts at the CNAC.
In 2019, he co-founded the Compagnie Charge Maximale de Rupture (CMR), of which he is now co-artistic director. With this company, he develops a collective creative process centred on aerial apparatus, height, verticality and suspension. He is the author and performer of the duo 9.8 (2022) and the trio Le Témoignage de la Chimère (premiere 2026, Circusnext 2024 finalist). As a performer, he collaborates with Cie Gratteciel and Cirque Imagine.
Alongside his creative work, he teaches his skills in the tightrope and aerial straps at several schools, notably at the Flic Scuola di Circo (Turin), ENACR, the École de Cirque de Lyon and Cirk’Eole.
