Mark Lorimer

Since graduating from The Place in London in 1991, Mark has worked as a dancer, choreographer, rehearsal director, teacher, researcher and educational consultant in a wide variety of contexts. As a dancer, he has mainly collaborated with Rosas/Anne-Teresa De Keersmaeker (1994–2023), ZOO/Thomas Hauert (1997–2005) and Alix Eynaudi (2012–present). At the same time, he has worked on numerous projects with, among others, Deborah Hay, UPSBD—Saldana and Drillet, Alain Buffard (reprise of a role), Marten Spangberg, Kris Verdonck, Jonathan Burrows, Boris Charmatz and Liz Santoro/Pierre Godard.

As a choreographer, Mark created “Canon and on and on...”, a commission for eight Geneva-based dancers from the ADC and the La Bâtie festival in September 2021; “To Intimate”, with cellist Thomas Luks and Cynthia Loemij, a key dancer with de Rosas; and “Dancesmith – Camel, Weasel, Whale”, again with Cynthia, as well as graphic designer and dancer Clinton Stringer.

His experience in dance teaching also covers a broad spectrum: at La Manufacture in Lausanne, he regularly teaches choreographic composition in response to a musical score; he was a member of the steering committee for the DanceWeb collective at Impulstanz in Vienna in 2015 and currently holds the post of educational advisor at the CNDC in Angers. In addition, he teaches on an ad hoc basis at PARTS (Brussels), PNSD (Cannes), DNSPA (Copenhagen) and CDCN (Toulouse).
