Laura Pazzola
Laura Pazzola is a director, actress and teacher. Her approach to acting and creation is deeply rooted in the art of movement and the visual arts. A graduate of the Jacques Lecoq International School of Dramatic Art and the University of Cagliari in art history and heritage, she trained in contemporary magic at the CNAC (National Centre for Circus Arts in Châlons-en-Champagne), and studied dance and singing. She learnt the art of puppetry and object theatre whilst working for several years with the director Maurizio Bercini (one of the founders of the Teatro delle Briciole in Italy) and the puppeteer Patrizio Dall’Argine, as part of the Italian company Cà luogo d’arte.
She went on to collaborate on various productions with the Teatro Stabile di Sardegna (Italy) and co-founded 38CIT, an international theatre company. She creates performances as a writer and director, performer, puppeteer or creative collaborator. She enjoys creating “Embarquements”, unique site-specific events designed as platforms for genuine encounters between individuals within a community. These projects aim to develop narratives at the intersection of individual and collective histories, whilst raising questions that challenge our certainties.
Involved in theatre education and training across various cultural and social organisations, she has taught acting at ENACR (the National School of Circus Arts in Rosny-sous-Bois) and has been a regular contributor at CNAC since 2017.
In 2021, she founded Camélopard with director Ulysse Fiévé, a transdisciplinary creative workshop exploring the intersections between theatre, magic, visual arts, moving images, sound design and literature. With this new company, she continues her research into performance, transmission and playwriting.
