Tanguy was born in November 1995 near Lyon, with an early desire to “do things properly” and do them well.

He discovered circus at the age of six and became deeply involved in the San Priote circus school near Lyon, where he learned the joys of acrobatics and collective work. Korean cradle, banquine, Russian swing, flying trapeze—being in the air became a powerful and fascinating emotion for him.

He met many circus teachers whom he considered life mentors. Through them, he realized that the driving force of his life is learning in the broadest sense.

He began a preparatory training at Arc en Cirque, specializing in floor acrobatics and solo work. However, group work kept calling him. The following year, he applied to the École nationale des arts du cirque de Rosny-sous-Bois to join a collective focused on Korean cradle and group acrobatics.

These disciplines, with their high acrobatic potential and demand for precision, particularly attracted him. He was interested in the possibility of deconstructing the very foundations of Korean cradle, a discipline still relatively underexplored.

He fully flourished within this group, which eventually continued its journey to the Centre national des arts du cirque, shrinking from seven to four members.

It is the desire to research and create new forms with Korean cradle that unites Tanguy with his three partners—Baptiste, Rémi, and Hernan. His deeper questions revolve around the search for happiness, the origins of hatred, and the bonds between sentient beings.

For this reason, he draws inspiration from Buddhist philosophy, mental training, and practices such as Tai Chi and Qigong.

Cie La Bête à Quatre – Collectif Bascule

The future collective entered the École nationale des arts du cirque (ENACR) in Rosny-sous-Bois in 2014. Driven by a shared desire to fly, seven of them began working on Korean cradle and partner acrobatics. They continued as a group of four at the CNAC in Châlons-en-Champagne, where they enriched their artistic universe and technical vocabulary across disciplines.

Key encounters—especially with Guy Alloucherie (Cie HVDZ) and Sophia Perez (Cheptel Aleikoum)—encouraged them to explore and create together. Their goal: to question and transform their apparatus in order to build their own artistic language.

After a summer of street performances in 2017 and multiple shared experiences, the collective evolved into the company Cie La Bête à Quatre (Grrrr).
