Enora Tournier was born in February 2003. As her father’s fourth child (out of six), she is part of the illustrious Tournier lineage. She grew up in Franche-Comté, a cheese-producing region known for its arid and frigid climate. She is shy. She plays the piano. She discovered the circus during the summer of 2013 at a summer camp and, with her mother’s help, enrolled at Passe Muraille. Enora was steeped in the influence and history of Cirque Plume; despite her young age, she dreamt of being part of it one day. Her father builds, repairs and supports, whilst her mother writes, directs and welcomes visitors. Both witness her growing passion for the circus and, in September 2018, arrange for her to move to Poitou-Charentes, a rainy, flat region known for its goats. At secondary school in Châtellerault, she discovered ‘Circus Arts’ and specialised in aerial lifts, but chose philosophy as her optional subject, which she later switched to acrobatics with maths as an optional subject for her A-levels (you never know). Then, in September 2021, she went off to ENACR, where she met the people with whom she would identify as part of ‘the trapeze collective’, all under the supervision of their teacher, Pascal Sogny. In 2023, the sextet set off for higher education in Châlons-en-Champagne, a damp, dreary yet affluent town. It would become the cradle of their almost-happy days.
Anyway, there are six of them in their group; she has five brothers and sisters – she’s the fourth – but loves jumping on the seesaw in threes. She’s had two dogs and, last year, a seesaw. That makes 17 in total – that’s a lot.
She doesn’t think you have to grow up in a group to develop a team spirit, but she doesn’t think the opposite will help either. They love jumping on the seesaw in groups of six, three at a time. At the same time, they practise a bit of balancing on the beam and lifts. Bolstered by their adventures, they’ve decided to set up their own company and are looking forward to a future that’s more than just ordinary – it’s almost perfect.
