Hand balancing

Chile

Born in 1999 and of Chilean origin, pushing the limits of my body has always been a constant need. I practiced various sports such as karate, athletics, and especially artistic gymnastics before discovering circus arts at the age of 14.

Amazed by the sense of community and the endless possibilities of this art form, I trained daily during my last two years of high school in different parts of Santiago, exploring disciplines such as static trapeze, acrobatic lifts, hand balancing, trampoline, and aerial frame.

After graduating, I joined the Lyon Circus School, specializing in static trapeze. Although I deeply loved this discipline, I felt confined up there, as if I lacked the space to fully express myself. I needed a change.

I then shifted toward hand balancing and began a research process involving a ball. I continued my training at the CNAC, where I developed this exploration of movement through balancing various objects, particularly on the foot.

Today, this research has led me to work with stones, prompting me to question the separation humans have created throughout history from their environment.

During my training, I also refined my practice of acrobatic lifts, which I see as a collective complement to my solo work. I am drawn to the versatility of balance in all its forms. For me, going onto the hands is not an end point, but a transition, a passage rather than a fixed position.
