Laurent Berger



A director, playwright and lecturer-researcher, Laurent Berger currently heads the Master’s programme in Performing Arts at Paul Valéry University in Montpellier. He also leads the international research project Being, Acting and Performing. He previously directed the Master’s programme in Directing at La Manufacture in Lausanne and the hTh Lab at the Centre Dramatique de Montpellier under the direction of Rodrigo García. He has published a volume on contemporary Argentine theatre for Alternatives Théâtrales, another on the theatre of Rodrigo García for Théâtre/Public, and the volume Shakespeare Material for TC-TNA Editions, Buenos Aires. He has translated works by William Shakespeare, Molière, Jean Genet and Jean-Luc Lagarce into Spanish. As a director, his most recent productions include 3 8 S M (Shakespeare Material) at the Teatro Nacional Cervantes in Buenos Aires as part of the FIBA (Buenos Aires International Festival) and D. Quixote at the Théâtre National de Chaillot and the Seville Biennial, Medida X Medida, based on Shakespeare, at the Galpón Theatre; Tartufo, based on Molière, at the Jorge Eliecer Gaitán Theatre in Bogotá; No Woman’s Land at the Budva Theatre in Montenegro; and Metamorfosis at the Printemps des Comédiens Festival.
