Jean-Michel Guy
As a research engineer at the Ministry of Culture (1980–2021), he led sociological studies on a variety of topics (cultural audiences, cultural values, etc.).
Lecturer in critical analysis at the CNAC (2003–2014 and since 2023), at ENACR (from 1998 to 2020) and at Flic – the Turin Circus School (2017–2020).
Lecturer since 2016 on the Certificate in Circus Dramaturgy course.
Author of numerous articles on the circus and several books, notably Les arts du cirque en France en l'an 2000, Avant-garde cirque ! Les arts de la piste en révolution (2002), Le chant des balles, jonglerie musicale with Vincent de Lavenère and Eric Bellocq (2004). Co-author with Charles Picq and Les Nouveaux Nez of the film Un rêve de cirque, directed by Charles Picq (2002), and with Julien Rosemberg of the DVDs Esthétiques du cirque contemporain (2007) and Le nuancier du cirque (2010).
Co-founder of La Scabreuse, co-author and director of the shows [ TAÏTEUL ], La mourre and Body (2005–2012).
Co-author, with Phia Ménard, of the lecture-performance Jongleur pas confondre (2004); with Maxime Bourdon, of the show Hallali ou la 5ème de Beethov’ (2014). Co-author, from 2012 to 2020, of Circonférences, lecture-performances on the circus arts, with Maxime Bourdon, Nathan Israël, Antoine Raimondi, Marion Collé, Breno Caetano, Rafael de Paula and Cédric Paga.
Director of Tétraktys by the Hors surface company (2012) and of Nove tentativas de não sucumbir by the devir company (2023). Dramaturgical advisor to numerous circus companies. Dramaturg for Cá entre nós by the Doisacordes company (2023) and for Bello! by fabbrica C (2023).
Member since 2002 of the artistic jury for the European circusnext initiative.
Administrator of the Maison des jonglages and member of the editorial board of the online magazine Jonglages.
Since 2014, he has been the coordinator of the artistic meetings at the Circa festival in Auch.
