Maélie is from Switzerland. Passionate about performing arts, she trained for four years in an amateur circus school (Cirqu’alors), where she developed her skills in acrobatics and aerial disciplines such as aerial silks and trapeze.
During this time, she discovered partner acrobatics (hand-to-hand), which became her main specialty. While living in Switzerland, she performed in many regional events (festivals, private events, corporate galas).
In 2013, she obtained her high school diploma and was admitted to the École de cirque de Québec, specializing in flyer technique and aerial disciplines as a secondary focus. In 2014, she took part in the show Bal marié in Québec.
She then joined the preparatory program at the École nationale des arts du cirque de Rosny-sous-Bois. There, she met Hamza Benlabied in December 2015 during the first year of the DNSP ENACR/CNAC program, and together they created a partner acrobatics duo.
In Paris, she performed in numerous productions, including El Veronal in a repertoire revival directed by Marcos Morau, Dans un frisson électrique at Théâtre Georges Simenon, the opening piece of the 37th edition of the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain (2016), En chemin under the big top of ENACR directed by Georgia Ives and Jules Audry, and Human at work directed by Olivier Dubois, as well as the opening of the Karacena Festival directed by Sophia Perez with the Cheptel Aleïkoum company.
She also performed for numerous private events (including at the Institut du Monde Arabe, Rotary Club galas, Théâtre Georges Simenon, and the Théâtre National de Strasbourg).
Maélie and Hamza continue their training together at the Centre national des arts du cirque, where they further develop their artistic research blending choreography and partner acrobatics.
