After his first stage experience as an actor in Les Saônes, directed by Yves Chenevoy, a flexible school schedule allowed him, from the age of eleven, to spend most of his time between circus, capoeira, piano, drums, and hip-hop dance (which he practiced self-taught with friends in various crews).
However, it was still as an actor—through film and television work with directors such as Alain Tasma, Benoît Jacquot, Mona Achache, and Nicolas Birkenstock, among others—that he began a professional path, discovering the pleasure of work that is both highly disciplined and extremely free in performance.
He then discovered contemporary dance as a major subject during his baccalaureate. Dance became a key element in his physical research and artistic approach. He therefore trained through various workshops and dance festivals, including Deltebre Dansa, where he performed in 2017.
Circus became the meeting point of all his practices and interests. It was therefore a natural step for Jules to fully dedicate himself to circus in 2013, first joining the École nationale des arts du cirque de Rosny-sous-Bois and then the Centre national des arts du cirque, initially in acrobatics-dance and later specializing in the Cyr wheel, an apparatus that allows great freedom of movement and becomes both a demanding and playful partner.
After a long injury that kept him in bed and away from physical activity for almost a year, he transitioned from acrobatics to the Cyr wheel. This injury forced him to completely rethink his relationship with his body. The wheel then became a way to move again, to rediscover acrobatic and danced movement, and to attempt to invent new ones.
The blending of genres is at the heart of his practice, which is why he joined the collective La Pieuvre in 2016, made up mainly of musicians and dancers from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, as well as actors and a visual artist. With them, he performed in several productions of varying formats, aiming to reach diverse audiences and engaging in a process of creation and exchange of skills.
