After the new circus, the circus anew!

The "circus anew" is a truly collective approach that permeates Over the Cloud. The work focuses on a movement that can bring the 11 students of the class together, so Jérôme Thomas developed a composition based on different styles of walking and on their synchronized movement, with the aim of flying beyond the clouds.
Walking is a banal physical action leaving you permanently unbalanced, and a collective, raw movement. It also makes humans what they are.
The onward march of the performers constantly brings us back down to earth. In this chorus of human beings, men and women are anonymous, masked, unmasked and multiple.
As a counterpoint, solo breakaway performances defy gravity above the clouds. The performers reveal themselves fully as they meet their apparatus, cross the clouds of our world and come back down to earth, re-joining the chorus, so that another may rise up in their place.
The creation of different styles of walking and their synchronized movement anchors the troupe's work.
Three factors renew the contemporary circus and are the very principle of creation for this graduation show. The artists are in perpetual motion, while solos and acts give way to an attempt at creating other collective relations and imprinting other rhythms. Each of the artists works on each of the apparatus present in the show.

Group graduation show

Every year for three months from September to December, the graduating Cnac class works under a well-known director who has to integrate the apparatus and their artistic ideas into a show. As creative performers they are surrounded by a professional artistic and technical team, in conditions that mimic their professional futures.

This year, the Cnac has invited Jérôme Thomas to direct the graduation show.
