"TETRAKAÏ" 2013/2014

2013 graduation show

Director
Christophe Huysman / Les Hommes penchés

with the collaboration of Angela Laurier, Sylvain Décure and William Valet

Creation at the Cnac
December 2013

at the Châlons-en-Champagne circus

TETRAKAÏ is a circus show, but is also a dance and theatrical performance in which different voices meet. Constructed for 14 performers, 14 bodies and 14 voices, this creation coordinated by Christophe Huysman comes full circle.
The work remains faithful to the dark humour and joviality of the Hommes Penchés Company and its performers. It is all about missing members, exiles, shattering events, sweetness and rebirths, which the circular universe wishes to extend. This graduation show is first and foremost a metaphoric evocation of links that disintegrate and are reconstructed.
TETRAKAÏ is rather like a laboratory for developing new paradoxes, recreating a memory and a future from the multitude of personal data and singular talent of the Cnac performers.

Group graduation show

Every year, from September to December, the graduating class of the Cnac works under the direction of a renowned director who will integrate their apparatus and ideas into the performance. The students are therefore put in the position of creative performers, in conditions close to those of real life, surrounded by a professional, artistic and technical team.
This year, the CNAC has invited Christophe Huysman, the author, director and founder of the Homme Penchés Company, to direct the show.
He has appointed the following artistic assistants : Angela Laurier, a performing artist who founded her company in 2006 and won the SACD Circus Artists prize in 2013 ; Sylvain Decure, a circus artist and founding member of the AOC Collective who graduated from the CNAC in 1998, and William Valet, a circus artist who graduated from the Chambéry and Rosny-sous-Bois circus schools, and is a Chinese Poles teacher.
